  12. Thank you for purchasing "Monster Media `94 - No. 2. We have made every
  13. effort to ensure that these discs contain programs that were either
  14. written, updated or released between May 1, 1994 and August 31, 1994.
  15. This ensures that the files you receive are the latest available and also
  16. eliminates any duplicates between Monster Media discs.

  18. To install the Monster Media File Viewer, change to your CD-ROM directory
  19. and type "INSTALL". Follow the prompts. You will then be presented with
  20. the text file you are reading now. Please read this to find out how to install
  21. the graphics viewer and other features.
  22.  
  23. Total installation requires approximately 2.6 Megs of hard drive space.
  24. You may delete the intro Monster Media pic, MONSTER.GIF, if you want a bit
  25. more space. The file MONSTER.LST is just an ASCII listing of all of the files
  26. and descriptions on the disc. If you don't need it you can free up another
  27. 700kb by deleting it.

  29. We have included a Windows version of ViewCD. It is also installed to your
  30. hard drive. Before attempting to run WinVCD, you'll have to use a text
  31. editor to change the WINVCD.INI file to reflect you CD-ROM drive and
  32. working directories. This can also be edited when you're running WinVCD from
  33. within Windows. To run Windows ViewCD, choose RUN from the Program Manager,
  34. and then type:

  39. You should now be able to access your Monster Media discs through Windows!
  40.  
  41. To view many of the images on the discs, you will need to install a file
  42. viewer. We have included CompuShow v8.74 in the Monster directory. This
  43. program will directly interface with VIEWCD. To install the necessary files,
  44. please run the files CSHOWA.EXE. It is a self extracting file that will
  45. install itself to a directory on your hard drive. To allow VIEWCD to find
  46. CompuShow, it must either be in your path (add it to the end of the PATH
  47. statement in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file) or copy the files into the directory you
  48. installed the Monster Media files to.

  56. COMPUSHOW v8.74 is copyrighted 1994 by Canyon State Systems and Software and
  57. is supplied for evaluation purposes only. If you continue to use CompuShow
  58. v8.74, you are required to register this program with the author. There are
  59. also many other very fine image viewers which may be found in the GRAPHICS
  60. directory.

  62. To view animations, GIF, PCX, TGA, JPG and MPeg files on the disc, just
  63. press the F2 key when the file you wish to view is highlighted.

  65. By default VIEWCD uses AAPlay, MPeg and CompuShow as it's image viewers. These
  66. are not the only viewers you can use. If you'd like to try another image
  67. viewer, please look in the GRAPHICS directory for many other fine programs.
  68. If you experience problems viewing images you may have low conventional memory
  69. or you need a VESA driver.

  71. VIEWCD uses Info-Zip's UnZip to decompress the files on this disc. UnZip is
  72. in the MONSTER directory.

  75. You may use this version of ViewCD on ALL of your Monster Media discs. You
  76. no longer need to keep seperate directories for each disc. You also no longer
  77. need all of the DIR files, as ViewCD now reads the file directories and
  78. descriptions right off of the disc that's in your drive.

  80. If you would like to make a database to enable you to search all files for
  81. a keyword, or you would like to make databases for other Monster Media discs,
  82. choose OTHER from the Main Menu and then Choose the option MAKE SEARCH DATA
  83. FILE. Make sure you have the disc in the CD-ROM that you want to make a
  84. database of. Name each database with a unique name (ie. Monster
  85. Media `93 - No. 3 could be named MM93_3). When you want to do a search just
  86. pick the database you'd like to search and find that file FAST!

  89. For those WINDOWS programs that require a VBRUN300.DLL runtime library, or an
  90. OS/2 program that requires a V?OBJ.DLL library you can find them included
  91. within the folling files:

  100. Copy them to your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory or your C:\OS2 directory and any
  101. program that needs to load one of these files will be able to find them.

  104. IMPORTANT!  To speed up the loading of the various file listings while in
  105. ViewCD, it is suggested that the buffers in MSCDEX be set for 18 or more.
  106. This will greatly decrease loading time.

  109. We have provided database files for several popular CD-ROM BBS Doors: EZRom,
  110. ROMDoor, ROMBrain and SFDoor. Just plug the correct files into your door
  111. as required for that particular door.

  113. Included in several of the BBS directories are utilities to directly convert
  114. the FILES.BBS file listings to a specific BBS format. Please check the
  115. directory of the BBS you are interested in.

  119. following at the DOS Prompt: VIEWCD.EXE  (ENTER)
